Lotte Skale and her father run a hatchery for magical and endangered wyverns in southern Holan, one of the last territories of Asoleenya untouched by the tyrant King Bouldermaul and his infamous Firewraiths. In an era where magic and magical creatures are forbidden, their illegal actions are punishable by death.
When her father is called away on an emergency trip, Lotte is left to manage the hatchery on her own. Unfortunately, a Firewraith discovers their secret, and Lotte must use her wit and knowledge of magical creatures to protect her home and the wyverns she and her father have spent their lives restoring.

Fun fact! Shanna P. Lowe drew the cover and other artwork that will be put in her upcoming Lotte Skale book. Many people are surprised when they find out that she loves to sketch and draw! While she specialize in scaly textures, Shanna also have fun with figure drawing and maps!
Here is Shanna's map of Asoleenya, one of the three known continents in the Lotte Skale series. It consists of five countries and three territories, with the Immorthial Forest being the largest of them all.
Lotte Skale and her father live in Twisp, one of the last remaining towns in Holan after its annexation by King Bouldermaul.
Yes, Shanna drew this map. In fact, she drew the original about ten years ago, before she re-drew it using PENUP. The style is inspired by a combination of Lord of the Rings and Guardians of Ga’Hoole.
What Are Wyverns?

A wyvern is a distant cousin of dragons. It has a serpent-like body, four wings, hindlegs, and a venomous stinger on its tail. Wyvern byproducts are effective ingredients in medicinal and life-enhancing potions.
There are over 300 known species of wyverns, all living in different biomes and climates. Each breed has a unique magical property, such as fire repellent or body paralysis venom, that can be utilized if the essence is properly extracted.
The most venomous creature in all of Asoleenya is the Desert Deathbite Wyvern.
Meet an Arachnea

An Arachnea is an apex predator with the appearance of a tarantula. It has a shapeshifting lure on the top of its cephalothorax, meant to mimic the food its prey its hunts. In this case, a centipede-like creature that often seeks out humans. Arachnea can weigh up to 300 kg.
Arachneas are nocturnal, sleeping in deep dens during the day. While they typically wait for prey to fall into their traps, a desperate arachnea will follow the scent to its prey. The are highly aggressive.
Arachneas are located in southern regions of the Immorthial Forest.
